Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine
Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) is a centuries old medical tradition that is used in partnership with Western medicine to treat a variety of conditions. The TCVM approach bolsters the body's innate healing ability. It restores homeostatic balance by promoting physiologic mechanisms that decrease inflammation, accelerate healing, and alleviate pain.

Acupuncture is the branch of TCVM that involves the stimulation of established points on the body that have been found to have a physiological healing and pain relieving effect. Stimulation of acupuncture points is achieved by insertion of sterile needles, electro-stimulation, pressure, injection, or laser.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an excellent therapy for a variety of common conditions in animals, especially chronic disease and pain. Acupuncture integrates well with Western medicine. It may be used to reduce drug dosages, side effects, or treatment duration. In post-surgical management and rehabilitation, it can help with pain control and reduce swelling, as well as promote appetite and healing. It can improve the quality of life of ill, geriatric, or cancer patients.

Acupuncture has few side effects and needles are generally well-tolerated, pets often fall asleep during treatment! There are no contraindications with Western drugs or therapies. Acupuncture is a modern, integrated approach to pet health care.
